Designed by Robin Herd for the new 1600cc Formula 2 specifications of 1967, this car featured a bathtub monocoque with three fuel tanks placed around the driver. Double wishbone suspension was used front and rear; and the Cosworth FVA engine transmitted its power through a Hewland FT200 transaxel.

The McLaren M19C was built as a F1 car in 1971, and was first raced by Brian Robinson in national and international F5000 events during 1973, his first F5000 race in the car being at Silverstone, 5/8/73. Tony Dean, the well known F5000 racer, help in the cars preparation, and It was converted to F5000 specification by fitting a Morand/Chevrolet 5000cc engine, a popular choice at the time. Despite the car being outdated at the time of this photograph ('75), Brian Still managed some good finishes that year in the Shellsport European F5000 Championship, notably a third place at Zolder in April. Brian's long racing careers stretches back to the 60's; he has campaigned in a wide variety of championships a well as classic events such as the Oulton Gold Cup. He is still competing today (2003), racing a Porsche 930 in the Northern Saloon and Sports Car Championship and The Michelin Porsche Open Championship.
