By the late 70s and early 80s, Andy was competing more in National series. He had some success in the Aurora F5000 series in the Formula 2 class, and continued in the newly formed Group 8, a national series for
top flight single seaters. The March 79 was one of the earlier ground effect cars, a system pioneered in Formula 1. Sliding side skirts acted as seals to create a suction effect under the car. This method was so
successful it was later banned because of the danger the much higher cornering speeds the ground effect created. See Andy's other cars:
