Brabham BT23C
Engine: Ford pushrod 1600cc
Configuration: mid-engine
Driver: Joe Applegarth
Class: Monoposto/Libre
Date taken: April 1976 at Start Line, Croft
Joe Applegarth was a regular competitor in northern Formula Libre races and was also a respected name in the Monopostoseries. This car was set-up to comply with restrictive rules of Monoposto, which meant, amongst other things, it had to have a pushrod engine. In libre racing, it competed in the up to 1600cc class where its main rivals were Formula Fords, Clubman cars and some very modern and powerful single seaters. Despite the handicap of an old car with a less powerful engine,  Joe managed to do very well in the northern series of Libre races.
