Croft was famous for its displays during high profile events. This particular car did some display laps at high speed. At the time the Alpine was a top rally car and was making a name on the race track. Alpine was a French sports car manufacturer who had great success with this low production car in its 10 years of production. As everyone should known by now, Alpine has to be pronounced Alpeeeeen.

Steve previously raced in British Leyland's Mini Challenge in a Mini Clubman 1275 GT, and in the 1980 the Fiesta Cup. Steve's long career included driving GTs and touring cars in national and international championships until 2001. He was voted top touring car driver of all time in the 2005 Motor Sports Magazine poll.
