The name GT 40 derives from Grand Turismo and the 40 refers to the height of the car (40 inches - just over 1 metre). The story of the construction of this car goes back to Ford failing to buy Ferrari and then becoming determined to beat them at GT racing. After a poor start, the GT 40 finally won at Le Mans and the legend was born.
