Richard Cooper is seen here in the Troy Tire and Auto Centres (a mixture of US and UK spellings) Special Saloon race on Easter Bank Holiday Monday. These Monday meeting were popular with the organisers because they did not have to comply with the strict 'Lord's Observance Day' rules of the period and the local Sunday bye-laws.The car is one of the later designs of Minis called a Clubman, which can be told from standard Minis by the flat bonnet line. (See Standard shape Mini of Gerald Clark) Richard went on to race a Van Diemen RF 73/74 in Formula Fords the following year.

Tony competed in this car in the Troy Tires and Auto Centres Special Saloon championships during the 1976 and 1977 season. To the right is a picture of Tony's son Andy, now a successful Mini racer in his own right (see Andy Wilson's Mini and 2005 car, a spaceframe Fiat)
