This very rapid Mini was an Austin Mini/Ford hybrid, a Cosworth Four-Valve A (FVA) series Ford engine, unusual because most used Cosworth BDA power, provided over 150bhp.

This car had a lot of thought and work put into it; the bodyshell has been de-seamed, which is evident if you look at sections above the front and rear windows. (Compare this with the Mini of Richard Cooper where these seams can be clearly seen.) Another feature is the wings, which have been extended with aluminium rather than commercial fibreglass ones. The most innovative thing about this car was its turbocharged engine, unusual for a Mini when it was built a few years earlier. David went on to race a Lotus 69 and other sinleseaters in Libre events.
