It was a long tradition in the Tourist Trophy for a driver to team up with others in and drive a 2nd or even a 3rd car in the race. Andy Rouse for instance, drove the Jaguar and two of the Leyland (BMC) Dolomite Sprints in this race. The jaguar did not finish the race because a half-shaft failed on lap 39, causing a wheel to be lost. David Hobbs set a new lap record for the GP circuit of 107.12mph (172.4kph)

Originally a sprint and hill climb car, Brian Wray's Riley 1.5 was eased into circuit racing over a few seasons. When this photo was taken, Brian had fully converted the car to race trim by installing an over-bored, MGB engine. A Derrington, 7-port, cross-flow, aluminium head was skimmed to give a 10.8:1 compression ration. Twin 40DCOE Webers fed in the petrol and a 3-branch exhaust manifold expelled the waste gases. Mobelec electronic ignition and a balanced crankshaft allowed the engine to rev quickly to its 6300rpm, 128bhp+ limit. The original torsion bar suspension, plus an MGB roll bar,  was lowered by 3 inches (76mm) at the front. To gain the same amount of lowering at the rear, Brian had to flatten the leaf springs himself and add lowering blocks. Unwanted movement of  the rear suspension was taken care of by Derrington anti-tramp bars. Unusually for racing cars of the time, the car's original drum brakes were retained all round. All of the wheels were 9 inches wide and 13 inch diameter (228mm x 330mm) shod with racing tyres. This picture was taken during the Frox Blue Jeans, Super Saloon Trophy race at the BRSCC, Jubilee Race Day Meeting.
