The new lotus Esprit was the car to have for GT events, most had their Lotus 2.2 engines replaced by big Chevrolet engines. Roger Matthews took the other route and installed an engine to compete in the under 1500cc class to good effect. George was better known for his big Capris.

The most radical looking Esprit of its time, this car was built around a Chevron B42, Formula 2 car. Brian started racing in the late 60s and is still competing today (2006). In his long international career he has raced in GTs, sports car and single seater events.

Tony moved from Special Saloons, where he had a very successful career, to GTs in the early 80s. Tony was still winning races and setting new lap record well in to his 70s, he retired from racing in 2004.

Pat's long association with Lotus lasts until today with his Lotus specialist garage Kelvedon Motors. He previously raced a Lotus Elan in Modsports where he won two championships.
