Circuit Length: 1.64 miles, 2.64 klms (circuit layout)
The circuit was situated alongside the famous Aintree Grand National Course, and was a Grand Prix racing venue in the 50s and 60s. Used for sprints, motorbike racing and as a motor racing school today.

Closely resembling Snetterton in shape but slightly longer, this circuit closed in 1973. It re-opened in 1992, using part of the old circuit and much reduced in size. Still used for sprinting, carting and motorbike racing.

Grand Prix Circuit Length: 2.68 miles, 4.18 klms (circuit layout)
The present Grand Prix Circuit is similar in shape to the one opened in 1960 and used throughout the seventies. The Short or Indy circuit is the original track used pre-1960. Brands Hatch alternated with Silverstone for the British Grand Prix. Still used for racing but no longer for Grand Prix.

Famous for the barns lining the track - the doors being left open to form escape roads. Still used for racing.

A very good driver's circuit which held the Guards' F5000 race each year. Still used for racing.

First used for racing in the 1920's and is still in use today.
Crystal Palace

Opened to racing in 1937, it closed in 1972. Parts still used for sprint meetings.

In used since 1937, but re-opened in 1977 after a long closure. Still used for racing.
Ingliston
West of Edinburgh, Scotland
Circuit Length: 1.03miles, 1.66 klms (circuit layout)
Used the Royal Highland Show ground and agricultural College's facilities. Contestants used the cattle pens as garages to work on their cars, these were not always thoroughly hosed-down after their four-footed occupants had left. Closed to racing in the early 80s.

Northern Irelands leading circuit. Still used for racing.
Knockhill
Knockhill Motor Racing Circuit, Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland
Circuit Length: 1.00 miles, 1.69 klms (circuit layout)
Opened for motor bike racing in 1974, and later went on to stage car races. Still used for racing today, the track has been increased by 0.3 of a mile.

Wales's only racing circuit at the time, it was based around an oval with a kink at one end. Present status unknown.
Longridge

This circuit was open for 6 years from 1973 to 1978, its small size lack of bends making it no more than a glorified oval.

Famous for its televised rallycross meeting during the seventies. Now known a Lydden and is still used for racing.

A purpose built facility, it was Irelands premier circuit. Still used for racing today, the improvements to the circuit included an extesion of 1 mile to the track (1.69 kms).

An undulating parkland circuit which held the F1 Gold Cup annually. Still used for racing.
Rufforth

A temporary race track which closed to racing in 1979 but is still used for trackdays.

Grand Prix Circuit Length: 2.90 miles, 4.67 klms (circuit layout)
Up until 1974, Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit looked like the layout above. For the start of the '75 season a small right-left-right bend was added to Woodcote to slow the corner. Silverstone alternated with Brands Hatch for the British Grand Prix. Still used for racing today but in a much revised layout.

Circuit Length: 2.71 miles, 4.36 klms (circuit layout)
Closely resembling Bishopscourt in shape, but slightly shorter, this ex-airfield circuit featured very long straights. Still used for racing, the two long straight forming the nose sticking out to the side have disappeared, reducing the track to 1.95 miles, 3.14 kms.
