Bill (rear) and Ian (front) are seen in the top photo with their Lotus 19 which was brought back from America. The car had been modified and a non-standard engine fitted, so the brother set about returning it to its original condition, Unfortunately, none of the original engines (bottom) or gearboxes were available, meaning they both had to be built from scratch at great cost

This is a sports car version of the Lotus 22 single seater, the ‘B’ denoting a later, stronger chassis design. Front suspension was a double wishbone set up and the rear had a lower wishbone with parallel radius arms. A variety of engines were used in the 23s, raging from 747cc Coventry Climax to the 1594cc Lotus twin-cam in the 23B
