The
Mk V Cooper was one of the first of a batch of mid-engined cars to be
successful, becoming a forerunner of modern single seater design. Based around
either a 500cc or 1000cc JAP engine and motorcycle gearbox, it had a ladder type
chassis with aluminium bodywork. Both front and rear suspension had
transverse
leaf springs with telescopic shock absorbers, and braking relied on drums
all round.
