On the day this photo was taken John set a new lap record for his class with a speed of 82mph (132kph). Fifty Chevrons B8s were built between 1968 and 1970. They had a steel spaceframe chassis with structural steel panels. The front suspension was a conventional double wishbone set up, whereas the rear had a more unconventional top link with a reversed wishbone at the bottom. Two radius arms took care of lateral movement. An all fibreglass body was attached to this chassis. Engines were generally BMW 2000cc, 8 valve M10s fitted to Hewland transaxles. These cars were successfully raced in endurance races, such as Le Mans during 1968. The following year, John Lepp (see March Sports Hart)) won the British Sports Car championships in a B8.
