Jeff raced the ex- Hill/Niven VW Beetle in saloons and the GT Championship for some years before moving to the BMW M1. This car was built over the winter of 1981-82, an M1 body being mated to David Purley’s 1975 Chevron B30, F5000 chassis. The original Ford Cosworth 3412cc GAA V6 was retained, which put this car in the 2001-3600cc class. In his first year of racing this car, 1982, Jeff won the class title and came second overall in the GT Championship. Jeff continued racing the car until 1984
