Ginetta G15
Manufactured: 1967-73
Engine: Hillman Imp 988cc
Configuration: rear engine, rear-wheel drive
Driver: Robert McKee
Class:Modified Sports Cars up to 1150cc
Date taken: August 1977 at Start Line, Croft
The Ginetta G15, built between 1967 and 1973, of which less than 800 were built, was one of the Hillman Imp based specials which proved to be a great successful the Modified Sports Car class of racing. As a fiberglass car it was not a lightweight! it weighed in less than 40 lb lighter than an MG Midget, and would not have had much of an advantage in race trim. It was the combination of the excellent suspension and Imp engine which gave these cars the advantage over most others. This pretty sports car had only two rivals in its class, both Imp based; the Clan Crusader and the Davrian.

Jensen Healey
Manufactured: 1973-76
Engine: Lotus 16-valve twin-cam 1973cc
Configuration: front engine, rear-wheel drive
Driver: Eric Liddell
Class: Modified Sports Cars 1151 to 2000cc
Date taken: April 1975 at South Stand, Ingliston
A few weeks after this photo was taken, Eric created a new outright Modsports record at the newly opened Knockhill Circuit at a speed of 76.8mph (123.6kph) - which stood into the early 1980's. An unusual choice for Modified Sports, the Jensen Healey was used mainly for Production Sport racing. Lotus built the all aluminium engine, which was canted over to 45 degrees from the vertical. A belt drove the twin overhead camshafts, while twin, twin choke carburettors fed in the petrol. This car was in production for 4 years and never sold more than a few thousand a year.
