In this case, the designation TC stands for twin-cam, a limited edition of the MGA. About 2000 TCs were produced between 1958 and 1960; the much more powerful TC version (100+bhp) of the "B" series engine proved too fragile and was not offered during the last two years of the MGA's production. The model shown here is a very rare fixed head version, open top models being by far the most popular. The lap record for the TC was over 73mph, which may seem slow when compared to the Midget TC, but this was on a par with the very modern, highly sophisticated, production Lotus Europa with a similar engine capacity. The 2001 entry for The Le Mans Legends race featured Mike Entwhistle driving an MGA FHC LeMans
